Virginia Run in Concert

Will Parsons was born and raised in Cross Lanes, WV. He started playing banjo at age 10. Will attended Berea College in Berea, KY. In January of 1994, he joined the Charlie Sizemore band where he performed for several years. Will is also the owner of Heartwood Music Works, where he builds high quality mandolins. With his time spent with studio session work, mandolin building and performing, he has truly made music his life. Virginia Run is happy to have a musician of Will's talent.

Former Merle Fest Banjo Competition Winner Scott Linton has been involved with music from an early age. From choral honors in high school to sharing stages with the likes of Conway Twitty, LeeRoy Parnell, Exile, Del McCoury, Don Rigsby, and John Schnieder. He has toured the U.S. and Europe with country and Blue Grass bands alike. He has entertained crowds from 10 to tens of thousands from Berlin, Germany to Bill Monroe's Bean Blossom Park, from Budapest, Hungary to Nashville's Gibson Theatre. Scott is also involved with dinner theater shows in some of Western Virginia's most noted resorts. Entertainment for those who love music and love to hear it live is where Scott has spent his time.

Mike Ketchum grew up in Pelham, NC. He started playing the guitar at age 12. Mike recorded his first album at age 17 with a band called Afton on the Mercury Records Label. Mike is currently the owner/operator of Blue Ridge Recording in Luray, VA. Mike has performed with the likes of Del McCoury, The Country Gentlemen, and Doc Watson to name a few. Mike has been involved with bluegrass music for over 20 years. Mike is proud to be the representative and contact person for Virginia Run.

Steve Acord was born and raised in the hills of West Virginia and grew up playing traditional mountain music. He is an avid hunter, instrument collector, and NASCAR fan, consistently updating the band on the pole positions of his favorite drivers. When asked about music, Steve will reply, "I had an instrument in my hands as soon as I was big enough to drag one bouncin' and bangin' through the house." He soon became the mandolin player for his family's bluegrass gospel group, The Acord Family, and later played with the bands Steadfast and Meridian. Steve's prowess on the mandolin has made it possible for him to rub elbows and trade licks with some of the great musicians such as Sam Bush, Johnny Staats, Chris Thile and many others. In 2000 he was awarded the West Virginia State Mandolin Championship, a title formerly held by Johnny Staats.

Shane Ingram originally hails from Boone, North Carolina, but now makes his home in Midway, West Virginia. His musical roots reach right to the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, influenced heavily by bluegrass, gospel, and folk music. Shane graduated from Berea College in Kentucky with a Bachelor's Degree in Music with an emphasis on vocal performance. While a student at Berea, he was awarded the much-coveted Red Foley Award for excellence in traditional music performance. After graduating he joined the Kentucky based band, Strings Attached and was also a member of The Charlie Sizemore Band before moving to West Virginia and playing with County Line and Meridian. "I've been addicted to performing in front of a crowd ever since I was a young child singing in church. I love to feel the energy from the audience when they are enjoying our show." A talented song writer, Shane writes a great deal of the original material soon to be recorded by Virginia Run.
